Clone Environment Extension Overview

Introduction

The Clone Environment Extension allows you to capture and preview demos directly from your Chrome browser, making it easy to build and update interactive demos in Reprise. Follow this guide to install, create, capture, and manage your demos using the Clone Environment Extension.

1. Installing the Extension

To install the Clone Environment Extension:

  1. Open Chrome (or any Chromium-based browser like Brave, Microsoft Edge, or Opera).
  2. Navigate to the Chrome Web Store and search for "Reprise Product Capture."
  3. Click Add to Chrome and confirm to complete the installation.
  4. The Clone Environment Extension icon will now appear in your browser's extensions menu.

2. Creating a New Demo

  1. Log in to Reprise from your Chrome browser.

  2. Open up your application and click the Clone Environment Extension icon.

  3. Click Get Started. By default, the Create New option is selected.

  4. Select Clone Environment as the demo type, then click Next.

  5. Enter a name for your demo and click Create Demo.

  6. Click Get Started to begin recording.

3. Capturing a Demo

  1. Decide if you’ll be creating a new demo or adding to an existing one (see sections above and below).

  2. Once the setup is complete, the extension will load at the bottom of your screen, indicating it’s ready to start capturing screens.

  3. Click on the extension to capture each screen in your demo. Navigate through your desired flow clicking the links and screens you want captured.

  4. Allow a moment for the capture to complete (indicated by a loading icon). Wait until the number next to the extension icon disappears before stopping the recording.

4. Adding to an Existing Demo

The Clone Environment Extension makes it easy to add content to an existing demo. Common use cases include capturing across different domains to show integrations, updating with new feature screens, or resuming where you left off.

  1. Open the Clone Environment Extension and verify you are logged in. 
  2. Click Existing Demos in the extension menu.
  3. Select the demo you wish to add to. Use the folder structure or search bar if needed.
  4. Once selected, the extension will reload with all previously captured content intact, and you can begin capturing new screens.

5. Continuing Capture Across Domains

If you need to capture screens across different domains, simply navigate to the new domain while the extension is active. The Clone Environment Extension will continue capturing, allowing for seamless transitions between sites to demonstrate integrations or multiple applications in one demo.


6. Removing the Extension

If you no longer need the Clone Environment Extension, follow these steps to remove it:

  1. Click the Extensions icon in Chrome. 
  2. Locate the Reprise Product Capture extension and click on the three-dot menu next to it. 
  3. Select Remove from Chrome
  4. Confirm removal by clicking Remove
