Clone Editor Overview

The Clone Editor offers an array of tools to create customized, engaging, and interactive demos. With options to manage variables, configure pages and navigation, edit web requests, toggle timestamps, use snippets, apply shims, and run various demo actions, this editor is essential for building tailored experiences that resonate with your audience. This guide provides a detailed overview of each feature to help you leverage the Clone Editor to its full potential.

What's new (May 2026)

The Clone Editor got a full UX refresh. Here's what changed:

  • Modal-based editing — text, image, and link edits now open in a modal, so changes are explicit instead of inline.
  • Save before changes apply — you stay in control. Edits don't push to your published demo until you click Save.
  • Design-system styling — the editor now uses Reprise's design system tokens for a consistent look across panels.
  • Unified empty states — the empty-state visuals across the editor now match, with clearer next steps for new users.
  • Build Notes tab — see the AI build history for any clone, including what was edited and when. Great for clones built via the Reprise MCP.

Getting Started with the Clone Editor

Getting started with the Clone Editor is quick and straightforward. This guide walks you through launching the editor, familiarizing yourself with the main navigation modes, and accessing essential tools to streamline your demo-building process.

Basic Editing Functions

Once you’re in the Clone Editor, you’ll find various tools to edit text, images, and links within your demo. This section covers the most frequently used editing actions, including updating text and redirecting or disabling links, enabling you to make quick adjustments to enhance the viewer experience.

Managing Variables

Variables are a powerful way to customize demos, allowing for adaptable text and date fields that can be updated as needed. This guide explains how to create, modify, and delete variables within the Clone Editor, giving you flexibility in building demos tailored to different audiences or scenarios.

Pages and Navigation

With the Clone Editor, navigating between demo pages is simple, and you can easily set a preferred start page. This section covers the navigation options within the editor, helping you seamlessly move between pages to preview the viewer’s experience and select the ideal starting point for your demo.

Managing Web Requests

Web requests within Clone Environment often control a ton of demo behavior including rendering of charts, images, tables, app interactivity, and more. Editing web requests directly will save you time and effort while building and unlock a more direct path toward customization such as editing chart data.

Timestamp Toggle

The timestamp toggle is a demo setting that allows you to automatically disable all timestamps detected. Some applications contain a huge number of web requests with timestamps that can create errors when building your Clone Environment demo.

Snippets

Snippets allow you to insert custom code (JavaScript or backend code) into your demo, enabling a wide range of functionalities and customizations.

Manage Shims

Shims allow you to customize how web requests render within your demo, making it compatible with older APIs or specific environments.

Running Actions

The Actions menu provides additional options for managing your demo, such as duplicating, importing snippets, and deleting replays.

Conclusion
The Clone Editor is a robust tool for creating customized, interactive demos with detailed control over content, variables, navigation, and web requests. By following this guide, you’ll be equipped to build and manage demos that are both powerful and personalized, delivering a high-quality experience tailored to your audience's needs.
