How to Apply an App to a Demo in Clone Environment Settings

To streamline the demo creation process, you can now associate apps with demos in Clone Environment settings. This feature allows you to pull in previously applied snippets and configurations specific to that app, saving time and ensuring consistency when recapturing or creating new demos. This article explains how to set up and apply an app both in the Clone Environment Portal and within the demo’s settings.

1. Adding an App in the Clone Environment Portal

Before you can apply an app to a demo, you need to set it up in the Clone Environment Portal:

  1. Log in to the Clone Environment Portal.

  2. Navigate to the Settings section from the lefthand side.

  3. Add your App.

    • Look for the App tab

    • Click Add a new App and enter the details of the application you want to associate with your demos.

  4. Save your changes.

    • Once saved, the app will appear in the dropdown menu for selection within your demo settings.

This ensures the app is recognized by the platform and available for use when creating or managing demos.

2. Applying an App to a Demo

After adding the app in the Clone Environment Portal, you can apply it to individual demos:

  1. Open your demo in the Clone Editor.

  2. Go to the Settings tab within your demo.

    • Locate the App dropdown menu.

  3. Select the appropriate App.

    • Choose the app you previously added in the Clone Environment Portal.

  4. Save your settings.

Once the app is applied, any relevant snippets associated with that app will automatically pull into your demo. This includes configurations that solved issues or optimized the demo previously.

3. Benefits of Associating an App

By associating an app with your demo, you can:

  • Reuse Snippets: Previously created snippets tied to the app will automatically apply, eliminating the need to recreate them.

  • Streamline Recaptures: When recapturing or resetting a demo, the app’s configuration and snippets will be pre-applied, saving setup time.

  • Ensure Consistency: Keep demos uniform and maintain the configurations that worked for specific apps.

4. Managing Snippets for Your App

For more details on creating and managing snippets, refer to our Snippets Help Center Article.

When you select an app while creating a snippet, it will be automatically associated with that app. This allows for seamless integration when you apply the app to a demo later on.

Changing an app will change the snippets applied to a demo and remove snippets from a prior app. For example, if I change the app on a demo from App A to App B, snippets from App A will be removed and snippets from App B will be added.

Summary

To maximize efficiency and consistency in your demos:

  1. Add the app in the Clone Environment Portal under Settings.

  2. Apply the app to your demo by selecting it from the dropdown in the demo’s Settings tab.

  3. Leverage previously applied snippets tied to the app for easy reuse when recapturing or creating new demos.

With this setup, you can focus on creating impactful demos without worrying about reconfigurations or repetitive work.
